SLIPFORM PRESS RELEASE
Szczecin, 13 October 2026
A monumental statue of Jesus Christ, reaching a planned height of 207 metres, is set to be built in the province of Ilocos Sur in the northern Philippines. The conceptual structural design has been developed by engineers and architects from Szczecin, Poland. Thanks to its innovative slipform technology, SLIPFORM estimates that the reinforced concrete load-bearing core of the monument could be constructed in just 40 days.
SLIPFORM was invited to participate in the project due to its advanced technology for constructing large-scale reinforced concrete structures, developed and implemented by the company in 2023 with the support of European Union funding. This proprietary solution enables the construction of exceptionally tall structures with complex geometries, significantly reducing construction time compared to conventional methods.
“This is a project of exceptional scale, both architecturally and from an engineering perspective. Just a few years ago, we were developing our technology primarily for demanding industrial and infrastructure projects. Today, it enables us to participate in the preparation of one of the most ambitious construction projects in the world. Our competitive advantage lies not only in our ability to construct extremely tall reinforced concrete structures, but above all in the speed at which we can deliver them. We estimate that we can complete the reinforced concrete load-bearing core of a monument exceeding 200 metres in height in approximately 40 days. This demonstrates the potential of the technology we have developed in Szczecin,” says Daniel Kisała, President of the Management Board of SLIPFORM.
Conceptual Design Already Submitted to the Investor
The conceptual design phase has been completed, and the structural solutions developed by SLIPFORM specialists have been submitted to the Filipino investor. The project is currently undergoing evaluation and approval of the proposed concept. Once approved, work on detailed technical documentation can begin.
One of the most important elements of the project will be the design and construction of the monument’s reinforced concrete load-bearing core. According to current assumptions, its height will exceed 200 metres, while the maximum dimensions of the core structure in plan view will be approximately 49 by 30 metres. Construction of the structure may require as much as 27,000 cubic metres of concrete.
SLIPFORM technology enables the continuous construction of reinforced concrete structures using specialised formwork systems that move upwards as construction progresses. This allows work to continue around the clock without the need to repeatedly dismantle and reassemble conventional formwork systems.
Thanks to the innovative solution developed by SLIPFORM, the construction process follows a precisely controlled, pre-programmed trajectory. The system ensures exceptional construction accuracy, with a maximum deviation from the designated trajectory of just 3 millimetres.
According to SLIPFORM’s preliminary technological estimates, construction of the reinforced concrete load-bearing core could take approximately 40 days. This estimate refers specifically to the main stage of erecting the reinforced concrete structure, rather than the total time required to complete the entire monument.
The Philippine Monument Could Set a New World Record
The planned statue of Jesus Christ will be several times taller than some of the world’s most famous existing monuments depicting Christ.
The iconic Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro stands 30 metres tall, reaching a total height of 38 metres when its eight-metre pedestal is included. This means that the planned 207-metre monument in the Philippines would be more than five times taller than the entire structure in Rio de Janeiro.
The Christ the King statue in Świebodzin, Poland, stands 36 metres tall including its crown, while its total height, including the artificial mound, reaches 52.5 metres.
The Cristo Protetor statue in Encantado, Brazil, measures 37.5 metres without its base and 43.5 metres including its six-metre pedestal. Meanwhile, the Cristo de la Concordia statue in Cochabamba, Bolivia, stands 34.2 metres tall, reaching 40.44 metres including its base.
The current world record for the tallest statue belongs to the Statue of Unity in India, depicting Vallabhbhai Patel. The statue itself stands 182 metres tall. If the planned Philippine monument reaches the proposed height of 207 metres for the statue itself, it will surpass the current record holder by 25 metres.
The project’s completion could therefore establish a new world record and create an extraordinary landmark of religious, architectural and tourism significance.
From a West Pomeranian Trade Mission to the Visit of the President of Poland
SLIPFORM’s involvement in the project is the result of the company’s consistent efforts to develop economic cooperation with partners in the Philippines.
The company’s initial entry into the Philippine market took place during a trade mission organised by the Centre for Economic Initiatives of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship. During this mission, SLIPFORM established its first contacts with Filipino entrepreneurs and representatives of the country’s investment sector.
Subsequent activities were carried out with the support of the Polish Investment and Trade Agency (PAIH). Further visits and business meetings helped strengthen cooperation, identify market needs and present opportunities for applying SLIPFORM technology to planned infrastructure investments in the Philippines.
A significant milestone was the official visit of the President of the Republic of Poland, Karol Nawrocki, to the Philippines on 6–8 October 2026. Daniel Kisała, President of the Management Board of SLIPFORM, also participated in the visit.
It was the first-ever visit to the Philippines by a sitting President of the Republic of Poland.
During the Polish delegation’s visit, the conceptual structural design of the monument, prepared by engineers from Szczecin, was formally presented to the Filipino investor.
“Our presence in the Philippine market is no coincidence. It is the result of successive trade missions, business meetings and the consistent development of relationships with local partners. We began this journey thanks to the Centre for Economic Initiatives and subsequently expanded our cooperation with the support of PAIH. Our participation in the delegation accompanying the President of Poland’s official visit marked another important stage in our activities. Today, we can say that technology developed in Szczecin is being considered for a project that has the potential to make history in the global construction industry,” emphasises Daniel Kisała.
